 Web Programmer / Developer

Job Description:

This position involves leading custom web application development throughout the entire project life cycle.  You will experience the freedom of building custom web sites using your own leadership and programming skills.  Our web developers are capable of full cycle project leadership including application architecture, design input, site layout/user interface, database design/programming, and .NET development.

Requirements/Skills:

  • 2+ years of rapid web development, using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ASP.Net, and C# preferred.
  • Candidates should have proven .NET experience as well as a solid understanding of Object Oriented Design and Programming.
  • Familiarity with design patterns, agile programming and/or extreme programming.
  • A solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
  • Understanding the benefits of SEO and the development skills to support SEO are a plus.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate directly with peers, managers, and clients while leading development to a completed and successful solution.
  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients’ timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the Development Team to both develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Creation of web app layout/user interface from provided design concepts by using standard HTML/CSS practices.
  • Placement and layout of web site pages given client provided content.
  • Development of robust and user-friendly .NET-based web applications.
  • Design and creation of relational database schemas.
  • Application/Framework design as needed.
  • Specifications/Requirements gathering as needed.
  • Routine daily maintenance of existing sites and applications.

Daily Tasks:

  • Assist in gathering requirements and project specifications
  • Attend project meetings with a Project manager.
  • Take ownership of daily project needs and communications.
  • Communicate project status and deliverables with managers and clients.
  • Design, create and program SQL Server databases per project needs.
  • ASP.Net (C#) development per project needs.
  • Manage project tasks, timelines, and communication.
  • Perform routine site maintenance as needed.
  • Other tasks as needed for successful project completion.

This position is a full-time position based out of our office at Arusha, Tanzania.

Web graphic designer

Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced, creative and determined Web Designer to join our team in Arusha, Tanzania.
Working with the Development team will be joining a passionate, sociable and highly creative team of designers and developers working within a picturesque office ideally located in Arusha. The successful web designer will be making the websites attractive and pushing the boundaries so you must have a passion for front end design as well as the technical implementation of design. You will develop high-level creative concepts for web and print projects – websites, campaign landing pages, banner ads, logo designing, flyers, posters, newsletters, mailers, brochures etc. You will translate visual/verbal concepts and creative strategy into tangible print and/or digital designs.

NOTE: Please come with your design portfolio to the interview.  You MUST have a portfolio of at least 3 excellent quality live sites to show.

Job purpose: Contribute to the design and production of our brands, products, websites and more using industry standard tools and executing to the highest design and web programming standards possible.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Know the difference between user interface and user experience!
  2. Design and develop web content.
  3. Put yourself in the shoes of clients and create human-friendly designs
  4. Turn abstract ideas such as ”professional” or ”inviting” into visual objects
  5. Work with our programmers and product development department
  6. Design headers, layouts, and logos
  7. Attention to detail!
  8. When the design is complete, be able to go back over the finished product to see if it is truly user friendly, and adjust as needed
  9. Write documentation to aid management of future projects that touch the code or function created.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  1. HTML5, CSS, WordPress, Adobe Dreamweaver
  2. Very familiar Adobe Illustrator, Fireworks, and Photoshop
  3. A quick learner with a willingness and ability to multitask and switch context when necessary.
  4. Knowledge of front end scripting, JQuery
  5. Not afraid of PHP.
  6. Genuine interest in relating to clients and producing work that will most benefit them.
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Be flexible and objective about design work.
  9. Willingness to collaborate with a other departments and accept constructive feedback.
